About Chixwithtrix

Hi! I’m Ashley, aka chixwithtrix, in the motorsport community. Stand up jet skis changed my life for the better, and I hope they can for you too!

This website “Ride Stand Ups” has been years in the making. My 2019 PAO and arthroscopic surgery to repair hip displasia, bone spur, cam impingement, and a torn labrum left me unable to walk for over 6 weeks. Instead of wallow in self-pity & boredom, I decided it was time to launch ridestandups.net for fellow riders and people interested in stand ups.

In other words – you!!

Ok – so there are tons of websites out there, why another? Since learning to ride a stand up in 2016 my mission has been to share the love of stand up jets skis with the world. If you haven’t noticed, there is a severe lack of content and media revolving around the stand up community. My chixwithtrix YouTube channel has hundreds of stand up videos documenting builds, reviews, and tutorials.

This website is for you. Please let me know if there is anything you want to learn to spread the stand up jet ski love!

  1. Hello,

I have been watching your videos and more on Stand Up Jet Skis. I want to get into it however there are a lot of unknowns for me when it comes to Jet-Skis. I am more interested in the freestyle skis. Just wanted to learn more about it and I figured you guys could help. I have some questions as to what constitutes a ski as “freestyle” I know there are some parts that have to be put in place for competitions and such. Realistically I would like to buy one stock that can be used outright for light-moderate freestyle usage before I start pumping money into it. Is there skis out there that you can buy for this or do they have to be modded for the ability to jump and flip? Please let me know what you think about all of this, I know it is a lot but I just don’t want to get into something only to spend thousands of more dollars to get a ski to where I want it.
    Thanks,
    Colton

    1. Welcome! You should learn how to ride a regular ski before buying a freestyle ski. They are “one-trick ponies” and it would be a heartbreaker to spend $15k and not like how wobbly and slippery they ride.

  2. I used to ride a 650 sx back in the day but I’m torn between the sxr and super jet but here is my question I’m now 6’6 260 for my size what ski would you recommend for someone my size any input would be nice before I go out and buy a ski

    1. Honestly it is personal preference, we ride with a 300lb guy who won races on a stock engined Superjet. I prefer the playfulness of a Superjet, but you can’t deny the SXR’s power and speed. Really comes down to what you want to do with the ski, go fast, or play.
